Start here.

2 Months

01

The first step is for you to visit a Neighborly House as a Guest for two months. During that time, you’ll need to attend two Open House Sundays (the last Sunday of each month), experience our two local initiatives, and meet up with a Member twice to review the Handbook. By then, you should have a sense of whether or not you are called to this way of life. If so, on to step two. If not and you would prefer the community without the commitment, you are more than welcome to continue visiting as our Guest on Open House Sundays.

02

If you feel a call, you’ll set up a meeting with a Covenant Member to discern a calling to be a Practicing Member of our community.

One Year

03

You’ll become what we call a Practicing Member. During this stage of formation, you’ll go through a guided course of study on our beliefs, rhythms, and values which we call The Pilgrimage, and you’ll commit to our shared practices of redistribution, hospitality, and communion.

After a year, you’ll meet with current Covenant Members to discern your next steps.

04

The final step, which isn’t expected of everyone, is taking the vows to become a Covenant Member for as long as it’s a blessing for you to share life with us.
